Strip (2021)
This piece was created for the 2021 Small File Media Festival. Streaming video is responsible for 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions- the data centres, networks, and devices we rely on for streaming are mostly powered by fossil fuels. The Small File Media Festival celebrates videos of under 5 megabytes that show movies don’t have to be big HD files to be beautiful and inspiring.
This piece experiments with datamoshing, compression, and a lot of reverb to celebrate the stripping down of high rez, high bandwidth video down to its pixelated components. And is there any better feeling than stripping down/dismantling your facade at the end of the day?

Grandma's House (2020)
A “found score” generated by my mother. I asked her to text me instructions for walking to my grandma’s house from my childhood home, both of which are in England. I then used the instructions to walk from my house through my neighbourhood in Canada, to see where I ended up. The house I arrived in front of was the caretaker house in a local park. There are 56 caretaker houses in Vancouver, where the residents live rent-free in exchange for performing caretaking and security duties at the park. In 2014 the city announced it would not be replacing any of its caretakers once they moved out.
This piece explores ideas of home, place, family, and displacement.
Walk out of our house, turn right.
Cross over to the other side of the road.
Walk up to the top of the road, turn left.
Cross over the first road and at the 2nd road turn right.
Walk to the next road and cross over at the crossing.
Turn left and cross over the next road at the crossing .
Turn right immediately and walk down the road crossing over the first road and turning left into the second road.
Walk along the road crossing the first road on the left.
Stop opposite the first road on the right and cross onto the left side of this road.
Walk down the road and turn left into the first road. Walk along the road stop at the 2nd house (not counting the house on the corner) . Cross over the road and Nan’s house is in front of you.
Symbiosis (2020)
This piece was inspired by the work of the Gutai artists. Working with my partner, our hands were tied together as we faced one another across the table. As his left hand held the pencil, I tried to guide his hand movements so I could draw his portrait. Simultaneously, he moved my left hand with his right, and attempted to draw my image. The process explored ideas of cooperation and collaboration, self image, and representation, and left a ‘trace’ of two unique portraits.
